Maybe you're saying, if this was a sign for Turano & Sons, what's that period doing to the left of the "R"? And you'd have a point. J. Turano perhaps? No sir.
When John Turano purchased the warehouse in 1978, the previous business to occupy the site was paper goods manufacturer E.J. Trum, and Trum's imposing sign occupied the frame. When Turano attempted to pull down the letters to install his own sign, the "R" wouldn't shift and the lone "R" has been a part of Red Hook's landscape for 30 years. The sign is backwards because that's how we see it from the Red Hook waterfront.

This was the best gift , I have ever given my husband! It arrived quickly and the shop owner is so personable. The beautiful graphics/colors make this shirt a one-of-a kind hit! My husband grew up there and this shirt brought back great memories of Red Hook and family life there... We will be making gifts of these to family members in the future. Wear it to work with a jacket or for leisure...it's a conversation starter!!!!
